Title: Purpose
1Purpose The purpose of this project is to expose
radish seeds to various soils to determine which
soil is most appropriate for growth.
WHICH SOIL IS MOST APPROPRIATE FOR GROWING
RADISH SEEDS?
- Limitations
- A larger variety of soils could have been used.
- Plants could not be kept at a constant
temperature.
Hypothesis I feel that radish seeds will grow
best in potting soil, and they will grow least in
sand.
- Results
- It was found that
- SandThe radish seeds grew 10.3 centimeters.
- Potting SoilThe radish seeds grew 6 cm.
- Cactus SoilThe radish seeds grew 10.5 cm.
- Top SoilThe radish seeds grew 9.2 cm.
- Procedure
- I obtained 4 different types of soils (potting,
top, cactus, sand) and some radish seeds. - I put each type of soils in a different pot and
planted radish seeds in each - I took pictures of each pot initially and every
seven (7) days for three (3) weeks. - I monitored the growth every three (3) days.
- The growth rate and results were recorded.
- All materials were assembled for display on
project board.
Conclusions It has been proven that radish seeds
grow best in cactus soil and grow least in
potting soil. Consequently, my hypothesis proved
to be incorrect. Potting soil is not the best
soil for growing radish seeds. Cactus soil is
most appropriate for growing radish seeds.
