What is meant by puprose clauses?

• Adverb purpose clauses state the purpose of the
  action in the independent clause.
• ExI go to the sports centre everyday in order to
  be fit.
• The purpose clause decribes (why I go to the
  sports centre everday).

What are the purpose suboridantors?

• Purpose subordinators are in order to, to ,
  sothat ,and in order that (formal ).
• Models are usually used in purpose clauses
• ( may/might,can/could,will/would).
• EX.I go to the sports centre everyday sothat I
  can be fit.

• With the intention of, with a view to, with
  object /aim of, and for the purpose of are
  purpose subordinators also.
• Make sure when using these subordinators that the
  verb is in the ing-form.
• EX. the university intorduced two new English
  courses with a view to enhancing students
  profeciency in the languages

What should you know about purpose clauses

• They could be at the beginning of the sentences
  (in this case you have to put a comme between the
  two clauses).
• EX in order to be fit, I go to the sports centre
  everyday.

• If you have the same subject in the purpose
  clauses and the dependent one,you can omit the
  subject of the purpose clause.
• EX. farmers use chemical pesticides in order to
  get higher crop yields.
• Farmers use chemical pesticides to get higher
  crop yields.
