Title: Speech Delivery

1
Speech Delivery
  • Dont bore your audience or wish they were
    listening to this guy
  • ?-----------------------------------

2
Body Language/Mannerisms
  • Proper posture
  • Stand straight
  • Hands either on the podium or at side
  • Dont fidget or dance see my example
  • And for the love of orange suits,
  • DO NOT LEAN ON THE PODIUM!!!

3
Pronunciation
  • Clearly pronounce each word if you do not know
how to pronounce something, look it up!
  • NO SLANG!
  • Remember, this is a formal speech!
  • Avoid fillers
  • you know um like and so
  • uh

4
Pitch
  • Refers to the highs and lows of the voice
  • Avoid a monotone voice at all costs!

5
Speed
  • You are going to be nervous, and this causes you
    to talk faster
  • Take a deep breath, relax, and start slower
  • Dont speak too slow thats a sure way to create
    a crowd snoozer!

6
Volume
  • Make sure the people in the back can hear you
  • Do not scream
  • You may want to try getting louder at some
    sections for emphasis

7
Quality
  • Keep your voice conversational nobody likes to
    be talked at
  • You need to practice your speech to gain fluency
  • DO NOT waste our time with a speech you did not
    bother to practice

8
Stage Movement
  • You should not be afraid to interact with your
    audience
  • People view you as a confident speaker if you can
step away from your notes and walk in the front
    of the room

9
Eye Contact
  • DO NOT READ YOUR SPEECH
  • Look at the entire audience, not just the left
    side of the room
  • This is the best way to connect with your
    audience
  • This will be heavily graded

It's not how strongly you feel about your topic,
it's how strongly they feel about your topic
after you speak. --Tim Salladay
