10The Curriculum
11 ACQUIRE The starting point of any football
technique is the cognitive movement process.
Young players must firstly gain the mechanical
movements and develop their co-ordination in
order to control their body. This incorporates
agility, balance, flexibility and mobility and
ultimately stimulates muscle memory.

13 Develop Players physical and mental skills are
always tested and improved in our sessions. The
intense cardiovascular element of technical
practise has a positive effect on core strength
and stamina. The demands of the techniques
produce strong, flexible joints in young
footballers which help in injury prevention.
Creating a fun, competitive environment aids in
the psychological development.

15Master Technical excellence is our objective.
Only through a structured programme of
instruction, demonstration, practise and
correction will players truly become adept at a
complete range of football specific techniques.
Understanding the elements that form the building
blocks of the pathway is key.
16First touch
Receiving and Releasing
Turning and Shielding
Goal Scoring
Defending
Skills to dominate the 1 v 1
17 Employ Technique ultimately has to be game
effective. If players have confidence in their
abilities, have speed in their technique and make
correct decisions, then they will be successful
when using those techniques in match situations.
To progress young players will take many years,
but only through structured, high quality
practise either with the coach or independently,
can excellence be achieved.
