• Benchmarks and Average

Benchmarks

• To pass a course a student needs to pass 4
  benchmarks a quarter no matter what their average
  is

Why not take the average alone?

• It motivates students to earn As and Bs,
  instead of Cs and Ds.
• It forces the student to MASTER areas in
  mathematics, instead of just skimming through the
  content.
• It gives opportunities for students who need more
  time to master content areas.

What is a benchmark?

• It is an objective or a combination of objectives
  in the course.

How do I earn a benchmark?

• By getting 80 on a benchmark test
• By doing projects in a cycle

What if I get less than 80?

• You can come to help night, do more in depth work
  and retake a similar test.
• If a significant number of a students havent
  passed a benchmark, then there will be review in
  that area and there will be a retake of a similar
  test in class.
