• A Guide On What To Know And Who To Know For 5th
  Graders

Band and Choir

• Must sign-up this spring
• If you want to be in band realize that the
  instruments cost money
• You need parent permission to join.
• It takes practice and dedication to be involved
  in music classes.

Art

• Art is a choice you can make for your specials
• There are many new ideas, activities, and
  experiences in middle school art classes.
• You dont have to be a great artist, just try
  your best!

Physical Education

• Very organized
• Dress out every day!
• You MUST change clothes in the locker room
• You dont have to shower but remember extra
  deodorant
• Everyone is feeling the same way you are!
• P.E. uniform is required

Desks

• The desks are all in one piece
• They have a rack underneath to hold your other
  books
• You will carry your books from class to class
• You need to keep supplies in a bag or pencil
  pouch to make sure you have them with you

Lockers

• They only hold a few books and a backpack
• You will only have a short amount of time to get
  your books
• You wont be hanging out by the lockers
• You need a combination lock ( NO key locks)

Halls

• 6th grade hall is apart from others
• Your academic classes will all be in this area
• You will move as a class
• You will not go to your locker between each class
• Bathrooms are located in this hall
• Bathroom breaks are taken as a class

Class Rules

• Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself
• Be prepared with homework, books, pencils,
  folder, agenda, and paper.
• Raise your hand to speak.When called upon,
  respond. Dont shout out!
• Keep all trash at your desk until you leave.
• Class will be dismissed, line up, and walk
  quietly as a class.
• Show respect to others at all times.
• Be responsible for your actions, your words, and
  your work.

School Discipline

• Middle School has the same rules you have had
  since kindergarten
• Consequences become tougher.
• You are not allowed to touch other students even
  if you are playing.
• There is a police officer on campus at all times
• Self-Control is knowing you could, but deciding
  you wont.
• Conduct marks turn into after school detention

New Friends

• You will meet many new people at middle school.
• Be careful about making new friends.
• You are not going to make your new best friend on
  the first day.
• Friends should help you be your best, not get you
  into trouble.
• Everyone is feeling nervous and unsure.

Rules for Success

• Have pride in all that you do and say.
• Treat others with respect
• Do your best
• Be responsible for your actions, words, and work.
• Use perseverance, dont give up!
• Be a good citizen of our school.

• Although it is different from elementary ,
  middle school has more opportunities, freedoms
  and responsibilities. You will survive!
