DIRECTSMain Aims and Outcomes
  • To determine how various systems work under the
    range of conditions found on UK roads
  • To make sure equipment from different suppliers
    is compatible
  • To provide guidance to local authorities and for
    the proposed national charging scheme for
    lorries.

  • Trial starts second half of 2003 for 12 months

What Happens in Leeds after DIRECTS
  • The City Council will not consider introducing
    any type of charging scheme until major planned
    traffic and transport improvements, including
    Supertram and the completion of the Inner Ring
    Road are in place and their impacts are assessed.
