  • Slows your reaction time
  • Affects your vision
  • Make you overconfident and unable to concentrate
  • Make more mistakes
  • Can be arrested even if you are below the level
    of legal intoxication

Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC)
  • amount of alcohol in your system based on a test
    of your breath, blood or urine.
  • Illegal to drive if your BAC is .08 percent or
    greater
  • You can be convicted if your driving ability is
    impaired.

BAC is Affected by
  • The amount you drink
  • Your body weight or size
  • Food you have eaten
  • Your tolerance of alcohol
  • Any drugs

Other Drugs
  • prescription and nonprescription drugs impair
    safe driving
  • It is illegal to operate a motor vehicle on
    Illinois highways with any trace of a controlled
    drug, substance, cannabis (marijuana) or
    intoxicating compounds in your blood.

DUI Laws
  • If convicted of DUI a violent crime will
    permanently remain on your driving record
  • Implied Consent Law automatically consent to
    submit to certain tests
  • Statutory Summary Suspension Law arrested for
    BAC .08 or more suspended for 3-6 months.
  • If you refuse test suspended for 6 months to 1
    year.

  • 2nd DUI (within 20 years ) No license for min.

  • First-time DUI offender
  • BAIID installed and are responsible for all

  • Help any injured person.
  • 1st protect the person from traffic

    shock.

  • Call 911 immediately.
  • Use flares if available.
