• Also called Parallels
• Parallel, horizontal lines on globe.
• Determine location/position North or South (of
  the equator).
• Go from Equator (0o lat.) to North Pole (90o
  North Latitude) and South Pole (90o South
  Latitude)
• Increase by increments of 10o
• Equator is the MOST prominent.
• Equator divides world into Northern and Southern
  Hemispheres.

• Determine location/position East or West (of the
  Prime Meridian).
• Prime Meridian is 0o at Greenwich, England.

  East.
• The Prime Meridian divides world into Eastern and
  Western Hemispheres.
