  response.
• Poetry has been known to employ meter and rhyme,
  but this is by no means necessary.
• Poetry is an ancient form that has gone through
  numerous and drastic reinvention over time.
• The very nature of poetry as an authentic and
  individual mode of expression makes it nearly
  impossible to define.

• The central meaning of the poem.
• Poets write to try to make sense of life and to
  convey their thoughts about nature, birth, love,
  death, families, growing up, and so on.
• Poets also create pictures of, and make comments
  on, social concerns like poverty, the
  environment, and technology. They tell stories
  and put abstract feelings into words.

• Poets are astute observers they see ordinary
  people, events, and objects in a fresh and
  original way.
• Poets are sensitive to the sights, sounds,
  smells, and textures of things around them.
• They see priceless moments and details and the

  crafted words
