Spelling
  • The goal of spelling instruction is to develop
    independence, fluency, and accuracy in writing.
  • Students in 1st grade do not begin taking formal
    spelling tests until the 2nd nine weeks.
  • Regular spelling lists vs. challenge spelling
    lists will be based on Pre-test on Mondays.
  • Spelling strategies using at least two word
    families per week along with sight words.

    academic performance and mastery of the TEKS.

Attendance Policy
  • Regular school attendance is essential for
    students to make the most of their education.
  • Students must be present for 90 of the school
    year. All absences and tardies, both excused and
    unexcused, count against the 90 attendance rule.
  • When students are sick or out, a written note is
    required. The absence will be unexcused if a
    parent/guardian fails to provide a note within 3
    days of the absence.
  • Calling to let us know that a student will be
    absent is great, but all absences must be
    followed up with a note.
  • Students may be retained based on attendance
    records.

Tardies
  • The tardy bell rings and the security door is
    shut at 800 am.
  • Students arriving after 800 must get a tardy
    slip from the front office.
  • If a student is tardy 10 or more times in a 9
    month period a failure to attend school action
    will be filed with a judge.
