ZANZIBAR ISLAND

• The Spice Island Zanzibar, is the jewel of the

• Pristine sandy white beaches and tranquil

  island is a divers paradise. A perfect stand
  alone escape or the relaxing end to your Tanzania
  Holiday experience after climbing Kilimanjaro or
   the perfect compliment to Savanah landscapes of

• Stone Town, the heart of the island, is popular
  for its historical sites, vibrant flavor,
  beautiful beaches, and friendly faces. Stone Town
  the main central town, declared a UNESCO World
  Heritage Site, is a vibrant and architecturally
  impressive rich is diverse cultures, color and
  history.
• There are excellent site sighting opportunities
  throughout the city or just relax at a local cafe

Pangani beach

• Once a center of Swahili trade with the African
  mainland the town of Pangani is now a sleepy
  backwater with little memories of days of
  splendor of Swahili, Arab and Colonial
  traditions.
• This town is located at the mouth of Pangani
  River that collects its water from Mt Kilimanjaro
  and Meru to the Indian Ocean. Here you will enjoy
  coastline with clean beaches home to breeding and
  nesting endangered Green Turtles, historic sites,
  coral reefs, Old Port as well as great diversity
  of tropical marine dwellers
• Along a stretch of seemingly endless palm and
  coconut fringed beaches, you will have a wide
  range of accommodation options in beautiful
  eco-friendly lodges that are dotted along the
  coast for your rest and relaxation. If you arrive
  during the off-season you may even be lucky
  enough to have the entire place to yourself.
• While less crowded and commercialized than
  Zanzibar, there is no shortage of excursions or
  activities to pass the breezy days. Take a boat
  to Maziwi, the sandy island resting on a coral
  reef island, a recently designated marine
  reserve. Most lodges offer windsurfing, kayaking
  and dhow rides as well as fishing trips.
• Longer excursions, such as those to Zanzibar, a
  bird watching cruise up the Pangani river and
  mangroves or experience a truly unique safari
  experience at Sadaani Game Reserve and visit the
  swimming elephants.

• For much of its history, Pemba has been
  overshadowed by Zanzibar, its larger neighbor to
  the south. Although the islands are separated by
  only 50km of water, relatively few tourists cross
  the channel, those who do are seldom
  disappointed.
• Unlike flat, sandy Zanzibar, Pembas terrain is
  hilly, fertile and lushly vegetated. Much of
  Pembas coast is lined with mangroves and
  lagoons, interspersed with a few good stretches
  of sand and some idyllic islets. Offshore, coral
  reefs, the steeply dropping walls of the Pemba
  Channel and an abundance of fish offer some of
  spectacular diving.
• Throughout, Pemba remains largely undiscovered,
  and youll still have most things to yourself,
  with a general ambience is one of utter
  seclusion, which is a big part of the islands
  appeal.

  location of the migratory Whale Sharks, spotting
  these magnificent creatures is an unforgettable
  experience of a lifetime.
• The island lies across the trade routes from the
  Gulf and has seen Egyptian, Omani, Greco-Roman,
  Chines, Portuguese, English and German
  occupation, and has had a prominent place in the
  history of the East Coast of Africa, as it was a
  safe haven for ships to stop for water and for
  repairs. The Mafia Archipelago hosts antiquities
  dating back to the Eleventh Century, including
  ruins at Kisimani Mafia, Kanga, Kua on Juani
  Island and Chole Island.
• The atmosphere of all the islands is one of
  adventure days are spent fishing or exploring
  exposed sand bars and untouched reefs, however
  the main appeal for many visitors is that it
  remains locked in a time warp of the early 20th
  Century.
