2
Our Heroes From the Past
  • The purpose of this lesson is to expose student
to heroes of color which are also part of our
U.S. History. This lesson is specifically about
Cesar Chavez and the United Farmworkers It
addresses the role they had in achieving better
working conditions and human rights for
    farmorkers.

3
Expectations
  • From the class I expected to learn computer
skills which I could apply immediately in the
    classroom.
  • I expected the information be provided in a
    concise, organized and logical sequence.
  • I expected my communication with CTAP to be more
    user friendly.
  • I expected to be able to read my way through
step by step instructions and achieve success.
  • I expected to expand my knowledge of computer
technology, specifically to create a website.

4
What I Learned
  • It is difficult to make a website.
  • That nothing is done the same way twice.
  • It is very helpful to work in a group on a
    project instead of alone.

5
Success
  • I completed the assignment of creating a website.
  • I was forced to focus on one particular lesson.
  • I created an interest in my students to utilize
    the computer as a resource.

6
Shortcomings
  • I began the program confident that I was computer
literate and am leaving feeling like a novice.
  • I never internalized the steps necessary to work
    independently on the project.
  • I didnt have a clear picture of the process
    before beginning the project.

Student Data

Reflections and Revisions
  • Observing the students and evaluating the
experiences they had with this unit, I would
increase the number of websites available to them
on the subject, allow for pre experience
downloading information and pictures. I would
also spend more time on vocabulary specifically
    related to the topic.

9
Conclusion
  • The most valuable experience I had was working
with fellow teachers. We traveled together on
this unknown journey. We made mistakes together,
supported each other, and discovered that we were
all capable of meeting the challenge placed
    before us.
