Maines SLDS Grant Early Childhood Components

• Early Childhood Program Connections -to jointly
  develop a link between the Department of
  Education and Department of Health and Human
  Services data systems in order to monitor the
  effectiveness of early (birth to five) childhood
  programs in preparing children for elementary
  education.
• Phase 1, Data Linkage System Expand the client
  index tables to add state student identifiers and
  other state agency identifiers, perform matches
  and perform data cleansing and validation.
• Phase 2, Early Childhood Program Pilot Linkage
  of data from Early Head Start, Head Start and
  Educare with the Department of Educations Early
  Childhood Special Education System and the Public
  Pre-K Programs, thereby developing a State data
  repository for the five programs. Queries will
  extract data into the TEAchME warehouse. Reports
  and queries will be published through the TEAchME
  portal.
• Researchers from the Maine Education Policy
  Research Institute will be involved in the pilot.
