  • It does this by telling what kind, which one,

Nouns or adjectives?
  • Some words that can stand alone as nouns can also
    be used to describe nouns and pronouns.
  • Example
  • nouns summer, door
  • adjectives summer school, door frame

Demonstrative adjectives
  • This, that, these, and those are used as
    adjectives and pronouns.
  • When they are used to describe a noun or pronoun,
    they are called demonstrative adjectives.

Common and proper adjectives
  • Common adjectives are generally not capitalized.
  • Proper adjectives are formed from a proper noun
    and are capitalized.
  • Examples
  • Common Adjective Did you see beautiful
    butterflies?
  • Proper Noun The butterfly is found in Africa.
  • Proper Adjective The African giant swallowtail
    is a large butterfly.
