COMPANY TRAINING MEETING
Effective training is the Armys number one
priority during peacetime. Training management
is the process used by Army leaders to identify
training requirements and the plan , resource,
execute and evaluate training.

TRAINING MANAGEMENT CYCLE
  • The training management cycle begins with the
    assignment of a wartime mission and the
    establishment of a mission essential task list.
  • Knowing where you are assessment and knowing
    where you are going are half the battle to
    conducting effective training.

PLANNING
  • LONG RANGE-long range planning training is
    planned for and researched 12 months in advance.
    (training areas, ammunition, and fuel)
  • SHORT RANGE-short range planning is a refinement
    of the long range plan. Company level has a
    planning horizon of 3 months.
  • NEAR TERM-near term identifies specific actions
    required to execute the short range plan. Near
    covers a 4-6 week period before the start of
    training.
  • TRAINING MEEINGS-must be conducted weekly

TRAINING MEETING PLANNING PROCESS
  • The company meetings are to review completed
    training, deconflict training, plan and prepare
    future training
  • Phase I Assessment (completed training)
  • Phase II Coordination (detail and specific
    instruction)
  • Phase III Future planning (training)

WHO ATTENDS AND WHY
  • The training meeting is a high priority mission
    for the company. Attendance is mandatory.
  • CO - who leads the meeting and gives provides
    directions and focus
  • XO-the 2nd in charge, coordinates training for
    all soldiers in sections w/o PLs, he coordinates
    maintenance activities for the company
  • 1SG-helps the commander with individual soldier
    training assessments, provides guidance and advice

WHO ATTENDS CONT
  • PL-1brief the collective task proficiency during
    assessment, 2 provide CO and others with upcoming
    training, 3 request and recommend collective
    tasks to train
  • PSG- 1 brief individual soldier tasks. 2 brief
    specific essential persecution checks for
    upcoming training. 3 recommend individual solders
    tasks for opportunity training.
  • SUPPLY-advise the CO on supply related issues,
    inspections and inventories, also works with the
    XO to coordinate outside support.

TRAINING MEETING TIME PLACE
  • Should be conducted same day and time each week
  • Should logically follow the battalion meetings
  • Should enable attendees to make meeting
  • Should minimizing training disruptions
  • Should allow subordinate leaders time to brief
    their soldier

CONDUCT TRAINING MEETING
  • Training meeting should not exceed 1 hr.
  • Completed training 15 min.
  • Near term training 30 min.
  • Short range training 15 min.

TRAINING MEETING/ COMPLETED TRAINING
  • Begins with PL/PSG assessing collective and
    soldier training since last meeting (see hand
    out)
  • Then platoons address Training short falls
  • Then CO updates the company training assessment
  • for each METL task using a training assessment
    work sheet

NEAR TERM TRAINING
  • Apply new command guidance
  • One very important part of the meeting is the
    discussion of persecution checks
  • includes the informal planning and detailed
    coordination
  • 4-6 weeks out reviewing near term training
  • focus on specific details
  • have TEOs been prepared, lessons learned,
    training areas confirmed, transportation, class
    I, risk assessment, etc.

SHORT RANGE TRAINING
  • The CO must first check the BN long range
    training calendar
  • The PL/PSG base on there training assessment they
    plan to improve training proficiency
  • The CO develops the draft on METL task and PL/PSG
    imput

Golden Rules
  • RULE NUMBER ONE-dont put anything on the
    training schedule that they do not intend to
    execute
  • RULE NUMBER TWO-do not fill up every minute of
    the training schedule
  • platoon need reaction time
  • time for immediate retaining
  • preparation time for training
  • make up training for soldiers on sick call etc.
