• He had to go to other meetings too.
• Washington also had to serve as a delegate for 21
  days!

• Governor Jonathon in Connecticut,
• New York committee of safety,
• Congress of creating a well trained army,
• a British General,
• And more!

Here we are!

• British General Henry and Robert E. Lee arrive in
  New York February 4 to get ready for battle.
• Washington's army travels to Germantown on
  October 3.

Retreat!

• The British army evacuated Boston on March 27.
• Washington left Massachusetts with his army on
  April 14.
• Washington orders retreat on Manhattan.
• During a heavy foggy night Washington and his men
  retreat from Long island.

Dont Stand Up Or Youll Fall

• British forces concentrate on Staten Island while
  crossing to Long Island.
• Washington's army finishes crossing the Delaware
  and the British are close behind.

• The congress gives Washington special power for
  SIX MONTHS!
• Washington leads an American freedom celebration.
• Washington became the first president because he
  was a great leader in the war.
