Title: Unit 1 Angle Relationships

1
Unit 1Angle Relationships
  • Vocabulary Foldable
  • Directions Please cut and glue your Unit 1
vocabulary terms on the outside of your foldable
and the definition on the corresponding inside
flap. We will add examples tomorrow in class. ?

2
Parallel Lines
  • Lines in the same plane that NEVER cross.

3
Perpendicular Lines
  • Lines that intersect to form right angles

4
Intersecting Lines
  • Two lines in a plane that cross each other

5
Transversal
  • A line that intersects two or more lines

6
Complementary Angles
  • Two angles whose measures add up to 90 degrees

7
Supplementary Angles
  • Two angles whose measures add up to 180 degrees.
  • (When parallel lines are cut by a transversal,
  • the obtuse angles and the acute angles will form
    supplementary angles)

8
Congruent
  • Having the EXACT same size, shape, and measure

9
Alternate Interior Angles
  • Created when a transversal crosses two parallel
lines. Each pair of these angles are inside the
parallel lines and on opposite sides of the
    transversal.

10
Alternate Exterior Angles
  • Created when a transversal crosses two parallel
lines. Each pair of these angles are outside the
parallel lines and on opposite sides of the
    transversal.

11
Vertical Angles
  • Angles that share a vertex,
  • but NO common sides
  • (they are across from each other)

12
Adjacent Angles
  • Two angles that share a common vertex AND a
    common side
  • (they are beside each other)

13
Corresponding Angles
  • Angles that are on the same side of the
transversal and have the same angle measurement

14
Same Side Interior Angles
  • Angles that are on the SAME SIDE of the
transversal and are INSIDE the parallel lines

15
Same Side Exterior Angles
  • Angles that are on the SAME SIDE of the
transversal, and are OUTSIDE the parallel lines
