What is required in order to run for President of
the United States?
  • Must be born in the United States
  • Must be at least 35 years old
  • Must have lived in the United States for the last
    14 years

Legislative Branch
  • Makes the laws
  • Decides how much money to spend
  • Made up of the Senate and the House of
    Representatives
  • Together they are called United States Congress.
  • Every state elects two senators- 6 year terms.
  • Ohio senators are Democrat, Sherrod Brown and
    Republican, George Voinovich.

    House of Representatives is based on population.
  • Ohio has 18 representatives.
  • Democrat Zack Space is our district
    representative.
  • Representatives serve two year terms.
  • 100 senators in U.S. Senate.
  • 435 Representatives make up the U.S. House of
    Representatives.

JUDICIAL BRANCH
  • Interprets or makes sure that laws follow the
    Constitution
  • Headed by the United States Supreme Court
  • 9 judges make up the U.S. Supreme Court
  • The president chooses the judges, and are then
    approved by the Senate.
  • Judges serve for life.
  • Judges hear cases that come from the lower
    courts.

    education.
  • These officials decide how to spend the
    districts money, hire employees and help run the
    school district.
