- Why To provide a venue for mutual discussion
regarding differences/similarities of the Parks
and Kinney MAC proposals.
4Discussion
- G. Parks, R. Gubbi and A. Ghori described in
detail the operation of their MAC protocol using
SC-TDMA - P.Kinney and J. Kubler described in detail their
MAC proposals need for a Contention Access
Period immediately following a beacon.
5Parks MAC Protocol Network Frame Format
6Kinneys MAC Protocol Superframe
- Maintain station synchronization
- coordinate sleep cycles
- FH coordination (if necessary)
- Asynchronous slot/cycle assignments
- Isochronous slot/cycle assignments
7MAC Protocol SuperframeContention Access Period
Contention Access Period
Contention Free Period
Beacon
Asynchronous slots
Isochronous slots
- All control messages such as
- attachment requests
- authentication responses
- slot cycle requests
- In addition short data frames could be sent in
this period
8Resolution
- G. Parks asked if P. Kinney/J.Kubler would be
comfortable if the ReQuest Slot were moved from
the end of SC-TDMA sequence to immediately
follow the Beacon as per the Kinney MAC proposal. - P. Kinney/J. Kubler acknowledged they would.
- Consequently, ...
9Consensus
- The MAC subcommittee has agreed on a baseline
combination of the Parks and Kinney MAC proposals.
10Consensus continued...
- The consensus approach is to use
- the Heberling/Schrader Slot Cycle-TDMA
algorithm(currently included in both the Park and
Kinney MAC proposals) with - the Kinney contention access period slot
allocation immediately following the beacon and - the Parks multi-media QoS policies.
11Recommendation
- TG3 resume its confirmation (75) vote on the now
merged Kinney/Parks MAC proposal - aka Kinney/Parks/Heberling/Davis/Kubler/Skellern
