10The Black Death was one of the worst natural
disasters in history. In 1347 A.D., a great
plague swept over Europe andcausedÂ
widespread hysteria and death. The primary
culprits in transmitting this disease were Rat
Fleas which were carried on the back of black
rats
11BLACK DEATH
- SPREAD WHEN FLEAS WERE INFECTED WITH BACTERIUM
FROM RATS. THE FLEAS SPREAD IT TO HUMANS - Symptoms
- Headache
- Chills
- Fever
- Exhaustion
- Within a day or two, swellings appeared.
- They were hard, painful, burning lumps on the
neck, under the arms, on the inner thighs. Soon
they turned black, split open, and began to ooze
pus and blood. They may have grown to the size of
an orange.
12How the Plague was spread
- 1. BUBONIC PLAGUE- PAINFUL SYMPTOMS AND HIGH
FEVER (SPREAD BY FLEAS) - 2. PNEUMONIC PLAGUE- SPREAD BY COUGHING AND
SNEEZING. ALMOST ALWAYS FATAL!!!!!!!! ATTACKED
THE LUNGS!!
