  1. FOR EVERY SONG YOU LEARN TO PLAY AND PLAY
    SUCCESSFULLY, YOU EARN A DIFFERENT COLORED BELT
    TO TIE ONTO YOUR RECORDER!
  2. The more you practice at home, the faster you
    make progress toward the ultimate goal- the
    Master Belt!
  3. The songs are organized from easiest to hardest
    and do not have written notation in this
    powerpoint however in class we will analyze
    actual music notation.
  4. Each student is expected to work about 5 minutes
    daily at home on their own and will be tested to
    determine playing progress.

HOW TO GET A GOOD SOUND
  • Follow the ideas in the Recorder Rap.
  • Touch your tongue behind your front teeth to
    separate notes (doo doo doo)- dont use puffs of
    breath (whoo whoo whoo). This is called TONGUING
    THE NOTES.

MASTER BELT INFO.
  • ONCE YOU ACHIEVE BLACK BELT,
  • Mrs. Greggs will assign you one song from a music
    book that you must learn completely on your own.
    This includes counting the rhythm and playing the
    correct pitches on the staff without her help.
  • If you are able to play the song correctly, you
    earn your braided cord and may move on to study
    alto recorder!
