What is Aeroponics?
  • Aeroponics is when you grow plants in the air
using mist instead of soil. The plant grows only
from the essential nutrients that are needed.

3
History on Aeroponics
  • It started in the 1940s that scienctists started
    growing plants using air.
  • In 1944, LJ Klotz discovered misted citrus plants
    in his research.
  • In the 1970s not only scientists used
hydroponics, but also farmers for growing more
    vegetables.

Benefits of Aeroponics
  • It doesnt take up space /volume
  • Helps the plants grow faster
  • Uses air as its medium so it saves you a great
    deal of labor
  • Using aeroponics for cloning improves root
growth, survival rate, growth rate, and
    maturation time.
  • Not require using any intoxic chemicals to
enhance growth and the end result will be that
    they taste better.

Low Pressure Units
  • The types of systems are usually the most simple
    and cost less.
  • The plants are suspended in the air above the
    nutrient based water below it.
  • Then, a low pressure pump sprays the plants.
  • The nutrients then drip back down into the
nutrient based water below and are used
    repeatedly.
  • A con to this system is that it does not remove
any unwanted materials and does not purify the
    nutrient solution.
  •

8
High Pressure Units
  • It has the same concept as low pressure units,
but instead uses a high pressure pump. These
units are usually used for high valued crops.
Unlike low pressure units, this system has a
    purifying system.

9
Commercial Systems
  • This system is very much like high pressure units
but has more beneficial and convenient features.
  • Some features include disease prevention,
precision timing, temperature sensors, and many
    more.
  • Like high pressure systems, commercial systems
are used for high valued crops and are working
    24/7.

Cutting Edge Research
  •         Growing pharmaceutical medicine insind
plants while using aeroponics. Research has been
a failure, but is still under development.
  •
  •         Vietnam recently joined the World Trade
Organization (2007). They adapted the aeroponics
systems. Agriculture will begin this low cost
process of organic mini-tubers. They will grow
their crops, such as potatoes, disease free and
    no pesticides.

11
How does it grow?
  • Aeroponics are really easy to use.
  • They grow twice as much than a plant grow
    normally.
  • The mist is filled with water and nutrients. How
much water they need and the length of time of
the spray is controlled by the systems Hydro
    Control Unit.
  • The spray also keeps the plants fresh so they
    can grow faster.
