• Rat neonatal ventricular cardiomyocytes were
  obtained using a standard trypsin-collagenase
  digestion protocol
• myocytes were plated on 25 mm glass coverslips
  and used within 3-5 days after plating
• cells were loaded with the calcium-sensitive
  indicator Fluo-4 (Kd345 nM) and wave propagation
  was visualized by following calcium transients
• the events were monitored at room temperature
  using ether a Zeiss LSM 510 confocal imaging
  system or CCD camera
