  • By Nikita and Hilary

The Molasses Act
  • The Molasses Act was in 1764.
  • They put taxes on sugar, indigo, coffee, pimento,
    wine, textiles, and Molasses.
  • They turned molasses and sugar into rum and when
    there were taxes put on the molasses and sugar
    the price went up on the rum.

The French And Indian War
  • The French and Indian war started in 1754 and
    ended in 1763.
  • It was called the 7 year war.
  • The British and Indians were on one side Colonist
    and the French were on the other side.
  • It ended with the colonists winning.

The Proclamation of 1763
  • All the colonist were forbidden to go south of
    the Appalachian Mountains. The people who
    already had, had to move back.
  • King George kept an eye on all the colonist to
    make sure they did not pass the mountains.
  • All the new laws made the colonist angry.

The Stamp Act
  • King George wanted to effect everyones life.
  • You had to have stamps on 54 kinds of paper such
    as newspapers, Almanacs, playing cards, dice,
    wills and license.
  • Some colonist would steel these items because
    they didnt want to pay the stamp taxes.

Townshend Act
  • The Townshend Act was in1767.
  • This act put taxes on tea, glass, paper, and
    paint.
  • Many colonist did not want to pay the taxes.

The Sons of Liberty
  • The sons of liberty was a club of many colonist.
    Their motto was join our die.
  • People that were in the club would break into the
    tax collectors houses and beat them.
  • After that they would take
  • the tax stamps and burn them.

Boston Massacre
  • The Boston Massacre was a war between the
    colonist and the British.
  • It started out as a snowball fight and ended as a
    war.
  • 5 colonist were killed 6 were wounded.

The Boston Tea Party
  • 50 men from the sons of liberty got on a boat
    dressed as Mohawk Indians and threw over 342 tea
    bags in the water.
  • All that tea was worth 75,000 dollars.
  • One of the 50 men was Paul Revere.
  • This did not make King George III very happy.

The First Continental Congress(Intolerable Act)
  • The Intolerable Act closed the Harbor tell all
    the tea was paid for from the Boston Tea Party.
  • They also said they could not hold town meetings,
    they forced you to have a soldier live in your
    house and you could not commit a crime.
  • This lead to many problems.

Minute Men
  • The reason the men were called Minute Men was
    because if there was a problem they could get
    ready in 1 minute and fix the problem.
  • Paul Revere was a famous Minute Man.

The Battle of Concord Lexington
  • The first shoot was called The shot heard round
    the world.
  • Paul Revere was a famous fighter in the war.
  • Many people were killed or wounded.

The Battle Of Bunker Hill
  • Bunker Hill looked over the Boston Harbor.
  • The hill was really Breeds Hill but the colonist
    thought it was Bunker Hill.
  • It started when the British commander sent
    solders over the hill.

The 2nd Continental Congress
  • In May of 1775 was when the second Continental
    Congress started its place in Philadelphia.
  • King George hired solders from Germany called
    Hessians.
  • King George paid them 50 dollars a year, 35 if
    they killed someone, and 12 if someone got
    wounded.

The American Flag
  • On June 14,1774 they decided to make a flag with
    13 stars and 13 stripe.
  • The 13 stars stood for all 13 colonies.
  • Betsey Ross sewed the first American Flag.

The First Battles
  • Most of the early battles were around New York
    City to Pennsylvania.
  • On May 10,1775 was the first battle between the
    Americans and British.
  • Fort Ticonderoga had forty cannons where the war
    took place.

Common Sense The Declaration of Independence
  • In January of 1776 a man named Thomas Paine wrote
    a book called Common Sense.
  • George Washington wrote The Declaration of
    Independence which told the Americans that they
    had a free country now.
  • Some Americans still obeyed the Kings rules and
    they were called Tories.

The Battle Of Saratoga
  • In the winter of 1776 George Washington and his
    soldiers camped in Pennsylvania..
  • On Christmas Eve they crossed the icy Delaware
    River.
  • They were going to fight with the Hessian. That
    same night the Hessians were celebrating the
    holiday and drinking heavy drinks.

Valley Forge The End of the War
  • The British camped in Philadelphia.
  • The Americans stayed at Valley Forge which is 30
    miles away from Philadelphia.
  • After the end of the war the Americans got their
    own country which is now the United States.
