Mystery girl abduction
2
A community in Greece is at the center of a child
abduction case, with a Gypsy, or Roma, couple
accused of abducting a blonde, blue-eyed girl who
is thought to be about 4 years old. A 40-year-old
woman and 39-year-old man have been charged with
abducting a minor after police raided the camp
Wednesday looking for drugs and weapons. DNA
tests proved the couple isn't the girl's
biological parents. The man and woman will appear
in a court Monday. Police have launched an
international appeal to find out details about
the abduction and find the biological parents of
the girl, who is known as Maria in the camp. In
the meantime, she is being cared for in Athens by
a charity. The Roma, a poor people in a country
devastated by an economic crisis, try to make a
living in the camp on the outskirts town by
selling fruits, carpets, blankets, baskets and
shoes at local markets. The possible reason for
the abduction may be to take advantage of a
flawed system to declare multiple children to
receive money from the government. The couple
accused of abducting the girl had also used
multiple identities to register 14 children in
three different cities.

for the president to speak from) remarks about
the Affordable Care Act, the president will about
the technical problems on the healthcare website
and will discuss steps his administration has
taken to get them fixed. The site has seen many
problems with people trying to log on as well as
issues once they have applied, such as some
people applying for different plans. Insurance
industry sources have said they are getting some
    applications with missing information. The
application portion of the website was brought
down this weekend for overnight maintenance, as
it has been on previous weekends and some
    weeknights. An administration official confirmed
to CNN that additional government and private
technology experts will be brought on to help
solve the problems but did not provide any
    details.
  • Rebecca Sedwicks name has been in the news a
great deal lately. Rebecca, 12, jumped off a silo
last month after she was bullied by schoolmates.
Rebecca and one of her alleged bullies were once
friends, but they both had feelings for the same
boy, police said. It soured their relationship.
In November 2012, the bullying began, Judd said,
and it expanded beyond the initial tensions
between the two girls. Two girls have been
charged with aggravated stalking in Rebecca's
case. Additionally, weeks after Rebecca leaped
to her death, a potentially incriminating message
appeared on the Facebook page of one of those
arrested saying that she bullied Rebecca and di
not care that she killed herself.
  • On Friday, New Jersey now became the 14th state
to recognize gay marriages. Three states offer
civil unions, but not marriage, to same-sex
couples. They are Colorado, Hawaii and Illinois.
Same-sex marriage is now legal in 14 U.S states
    -- California, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa,
    Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New
Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island,
Vermont and Washington -- as well as the District
of Columbia. Same-sex marriage is banned in every
state not mentioned above, except for New Mexico,
which has no laws banning or allowing it.
