• 15th year teaching Spanish
• Grew up Speaking Spanish. Mom was from Cuba
• Mom was a Spanish teacher too!
• My Cuban grandparents are/were a very BIG part of
  my life
• Traveled to Spain, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico.

Course Objectives

• To foster a love for Spanish culture and language
• Prepare students for Spanish II, either regular
  or honors
• Finish 4 units (each unit has 2 chapters so in
  reality, 81 chapters) H\World

Grading

• 20 Homework (not too much in the beginning, but
  should expect something every weeknight (no
  weekends) H\World Languages\Spanish stamp and
  grade sheet.doc
• 25 tests/projects (usually 1 per mp)
• 35 quizzes (given each Friday)
• 20 class participation preparation
• www.Dictionary.com Sign up for the Spanish word
  of the day. I accept Monday-Thursdays words for
  extra credit.

Students will be able to

• Talk about their school day and what they need to
  do in order to be successful.
• Order food in a restaurant.

Fun opportunities!

• 2 fiestas this year, where kids prepare a
  SPANISH recipe. 10 pt. coupon!
• Salsa Fridays salsa and chips every other
  Friday as long as class behavior allows. Sign up
  sheets
