  • Universal Judgment
  • Substitute Christ on the Cross
  • Eternal Relationship with God

10
Hebrews 10
  • Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to
enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,
by a new and living way opened for us through the
    curtain, that is, his body

11
The Thirty-Nine Articles
  • XVIII Of obtaining eternal Salvation by the Name
    of Christ (1562)
  • They are also to be had accursed that presume to
say, That every man shall be saved by the Law or
Sect which he professeth, so that he be diligent
to frame his life according to that Law, and the
light of Nature. For Holy Scripture doth set out
unto us only the Name of Jesus Christ, whereby
    men must be saved.

12
Bono-Speak
  • There are consequences to actions. The point of
the death of Christ is that Christ took on the
sins of the world, so that what we put out did
not come back to us, and that our sinful nature
does not reap the obvious death. Thats the
point. It should keep us humbled its not our
own good works that get us through the gates of
    Heaven.
  • Bono in Bono on Bono Conversations with Michka
    Assayas 2005

13
Salvation Now
  • Negatively
  • Sin and Evil defeated no longer slaves to
    sin.
  • Positively
  • Freedom to Love Serve God

14
Salvation ThenCreation
  • Compare Genesis 2
  •  This is the account of the heavens and the
earth when they were created Now the LORD God
had formed out of the ground all the beasts of
the field and all the birds of the air. He
brought them to the man to see what he would name
them and whatever the man called each living
    creature, that was its name.

15
Salvation ThenNew Creation
  • I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now
the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live
with them. They will be his people, and God
himself will be with them and be their God. He
will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will
be no more death or mourning or crying or pain,
for the old order of things has passed away."
    Revelation 213-4
