  • Members of The Salvation Army often play music to
express their Christian beliefs and to worship
God. They also use singing, drama, dance and art
    in worship.

  • Every year The Salvation Army has an Annual
Appeal. Money is sometimes collected in buckets
like this. Without this money The Salvation Army
couldnt help people who are in need.

A fireman
  • When there is an emergency, such as a major fire
or crash, The Salvation Army gives hot drinks and
food to emergency workers and victims. They also
talk to people and comfort them.

A man sleeping on the street
  • For more than 100 years, The Salvation Army has
been helping homeless people. They dont just
give out food and clothes, they also help people
to deal with any problems, learn new skills and
get off the streets and into a proper home.

  • The Salvation Armys beliefs and work are based
on the Bible. Its members follow Jesus and his
teaching. Children and adults read the Bible to
find out how God wants them to live.

  • Sometimes it can be lonely when you reach old
age. Salvation Army ministers visit elderly
people who find it hard to go out, to see how

    for.

9
A woman pushing a mouse
  • At its head office in London, The Salvation Army
has a Family Tracing Service. The people who work
there help to find family members that have gone
missing and cant be found. They reunite more
    than 3000 families every year.

A woman holding up a copy of The War Cry
  • This is one of The Salvation Armys newspapers.
It sells more than 50,000 copies every week.
  • This helps to raise money for their work
  • in the community.

11
A little girl holding her teddy bears hand
  • Lots of Salvation Army churches and centres have
    parent-and-toddler groups and other activities
and services for families. The Salvation Army
believes that helping families is important.

    around the world.

An elderly man diving into soup
  • Many Salvation Army centres have lunch clubs
which serve meals for people who find it
