Novabase Capital main objective is the

Novabase Capital is the Corporate Venture Capital
arm of the Novabase Group, and was founded in
1995. Since then it has provided support in the
creation and consolidation of about one hundred
technology-based companies.

Currently manages the Risk Capital Fund Novabase
Capital

• The fund was created in June 2005, and will end
  by 2015. The investment period was successfully
  completed by the end of 2007.
• It is targeted to minority stakes in SMEs based
  in Portugal that have a strong technological
  background.

And has a management team with solid experience
in creating, acquiring and managing companies
José Afonso de Sousa Chairman Bachelor and
Master in Electrical Engineering by IST, and MBA
from the New University of Lisbon. Founder and
director of Novabase and several companies of the
Novabase Group. He was a board member of the
first incubator of technology-based firms in
Portugal and was responsible for launching more
than half hundred companies. He was also involved
in the management of the Risk Capital Fund - FRIE
Tiec / Sulpedip.
João Nuno Bento Board Member Degree in
Electrical Eng. - Business Systems and Computers
by IST, and MBA from the Catholic University of
Lisbon. Board member at Novabase SGPS and
several companies of the Group, being responsible
for international business and the Digital
Television division. Previously he was a board
member and director at Novabase Decision Support.
He was also a founding partner of two IT-based
companies.
Luís Soares dos Santos Board Member
(IAPMEI)? Degree in Business Organization and
Management by ISCTE. He was a board member in
several venture capital firms, accounting for M
A processes associated with the restructuring of
companies. He is currently a trustee of a Mutual
Guarantee Society and of a Venture Capital Firm
and Deputy Director of UFE - Corporate Finance
Unit at IAPMEI.
María Gil Board Member Degree in Electronic
Engineering by ICAI, Ph.D. in Industrial
Engineering by U.N.E.D. and MBA at INSEAD.
Responsible for managing the Capital Fund for
Qualified Investors Novabase Capital. She has
also worked in strategic consulting at Boston
Consulting Group (Madrid and Lisbon) and M A at
Lehman Brothers (New York and London).
Luís Quaresma Board Member Degree in
Information Technology Engineering by UNL and MBA
from the Catholic University of Lisbon. Manager
of the Private Equity practice at Bain Company,
having previously played the role of Director of
Planning and Development at RTP (state-run TV
Radio). He was also project leader at Boston
Consulting Group.
Pedro Falcão Investments Director Degree in
Information Technology Engineering and MBA by
UNL. Previously Investments Director at Aitec,
being responsible for analyzing more than 700
projects. Former Marketing Director at TIMw.e.
and OutSystems. He was also a Strategic
Consultant at Gemini Consulting.
