When I saw the setting of the authors home, I
thought it looked rather desolate. Why do you
think the author choose to live here?

Read the story

Pet Mynah Bird
  • cons
  • pros
  • It only imitated the keyboard clicking away in
    Miss Wrights quiet office. (Annoying!)

Pet monkey
  • cons
  • pros
  • The monkey certainly kept Miss Wright
    entertained..
  • When Miss Wright typed, the monkey put his hands
on the keyboard, too. A scramble of mixed-up
    letters filled the computer screen.

12
Pet fish
  • cons
  • pros
  • Soon they had hypnotized each other and no words
appeared on the computer screen for days.

CCSS RL 1.1, 2.1, 3.1 )
13
Pet hamster
  • cons
  • pros
  • She became too dizzy to write and had to lie down
    to rest.

CCSS RL 1.1, 2.1, 3.1 )
14
Pet cat
  • cons
  • pros
  • The cat stretched out across the keyboard, quite
comfy until dark. Miss Wright fell asleep trying
    to write at night.

CCSS RL 1.1, 2.1, 3.1 )
15
Pet dog
  • cons
  • pros
  • But as she typed, the dog rested quietly on the
floor beside her and Miss Wright was not as
    lonely.
  • When Miss Wright stopped typing, the dog sat up,
put his head on her desk, and looked at the
computer screen to see what she had written.
  • Together, he and Miss Wright would take a long
walk so they could think of better ideas.
  • He fetched a thesaurus and a dictionary. He
waited as Miss Wright chose some fancier words
    and corrected her spelling mistakes.
