Graduation melee A whole new definition for
kindergarten cops

The words "kindergarten graduation" usually evoke
images of tearful parents taking pictures of cute
kids in pint-sized graduation caps and gowns. But
for students and parents at Michael R. White
Elementary School in Cleveland, "kindergarten
graduation" might now conjure images of
"aggravated rioting. This, after eight
individuals were arrested Friday morning after a
fight near the end of the school's graduation
ceremony. People were going at it after an
altercation between two teen girls apparently
broke out. CNN affiliate news reported that the
initial feud prompted family members on both
sides to get involved. The school was put on
lockdown to "make sure the kids were OK. Police
say the incident will be further investigated.

• An early morning fire at a poultry processing
  plant in northeast China killed at least 112
  people, state-run Xinhua news agency said.
  Another 54 workers were injured. More than 300
  workers were inside the plant in Jilin province
  when the fire broke out about 6 a.m., Xinhua
  said. About 100 of them were able to escape --
  and told Xinhua that the gates to the plant were
  locked.
• Ten schoolchildren and two soldiers with NATO's
  International Security Assistance Force were
  killed Monday in a bombing in Afghanistan,
  officials said. A police officer was also killed
  when a suicide bomber attacked a bazaar in
  Afghanistan's eastern Paktia province, the Afghan
  Interior Ministry said. The assailant, who was on
  a motorbike, detonated a device in the main
  bazaar of the Samkanai district, Interior
  Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said. At least
  16 others were injured, Sediqqi said.
