Dr. Goldberger

• Dr. Goldberger, who was a member of the U.S.
  Public Health Service for 13 years, was asked by
  the Surgeon General in 1914 to tackle the problem
  of Pellagra. There were thousands of cases and
  many in the south.
• This is a person with Pellagra on his
• arms. The disease was known for
• the four Ds dermatitis, diarrhea,
• dementia, and death.
