• Know what how social class and stratification are
  defined, and what are their trends in terms of
  education, political participation, and
  occupation
• Know the definition of poverty and how we count
  the poor
• Know the 5 myths of the poor and how to debunk
  those myths (in other words what are the facts in
  regrd to these myths)
• Know the relationship between poverty rates and
  ethnic minorities, retirees and the children
• Know the consequences of social stratification in
  the legal system

• Know the definition of race
• Know how race has been defined in the US and
  understand why these definitions are problematic
• Make sure you study each definition, what it
  means, and its intended purpose
• Make sure that you understand what these
  problematic definitions mean within the context
  of race
• Know the definition of ethnic group
• Know the definition of the concept of minority
• Know how to define and identify Prejudice,
  discrimination and institutional prejudice and
  discrimination

• Know the difference between sex and gender and be
  prepared to identify examples
• Understand the theoretical difference between
  functionalist and conflict approaches to
  differences among males and females in our
  society
• Know Maines and Hardestys way of explaining the
  world view of males and females in relation to
  career education and family.
• Know the three ways in which women experience
  discrimination in the business world according to
  the textbook
• Know the relationship between the women and
  wages, occupation, and career advancement.
