What is the nuva ring?

• Vaginal Contraceptive

How do you use it?

• Start at the beginning of a womans 28 day cycle
• 4 week cycles
• Free week
• 3 Hour exposure before becoming ineffective

How does it work?

• estradiol 15µg (estrogen derivative)
• Etonogestrel 120 µg (progestin derivative)
• Thickens cervical mucus (sperm inhibition)
• thins out endometrial walls (eggs can not
  fertilize or attach)
• Luteinizing Hormone
• Permeability

• No reports of infertility (compared to birth
  control)
• After 0-4 weeks regain ability to become pregnant
• Low level of hormones
• More effective than pill (1 to 8)
• Use during sex
