Words You Should Know
  • Congruent Figures are figures that have the same
    shape and size.
  • Example
  • Symmetry is a line of reflection that divides a
    shape into two equal parts.
  • Example

23
Adjacent Angles
  • Adjacent angles share a common vertex, a common
ray, and the interior of one does not overlap the
    interior of the other.

lt a is adjacent to lt b

Bisect
  • Bisect means to divide any figure into two equal
    parts.
  • Example

Survivors
  • The class has been stranded on a island.
  • To survive you must find a way for all group
    members to leave the island.
  • Your only tools are a survival kit provided by
    your teacher.

26
How To Get Off
  • The only way off the island it to follow the path
created by a bisected right angle.
  • The only problem is, for each group member, the
path must be created in a different way.
  • When you create a path off the Island write an
    explanation that explains the path.
  • Make sure all group member understand and agree
that this method will actually work.
  • If all group members get off the island there
    will be a reward waiting.
  • Work together and GOOD LUCK!

27
Creating Angle Bisectors Assignment
  • For homework construct and bisect right angles.
Each angle must be bisected using a different
method. Write an paragraph for each angle
identifying the tool(s) used and explaining how
    it was bisected.
  • This assignment will be marked for points
  • Neatness and organization is a must
  • No more that 3 methods per page
  • C 6 B 8 A 10

28
Example
The tool I use to bisect this angle was a
protractor. I bisected the angle by placing the
protractor on the vertex and along one ray. I
followed the inside measure from 00 to 450 , made
a made and then connected this mark back to the
vertex of the angle.
