• Krivodol Municipality is situated in the
  northwestern part of Bulgaria in Vratsa district
  near to city of Montana. City of Krivodol is
  administrative centre of Krivodol Municipality.

• The cases of dropping out of school are more
  frequent in second level of primary education
  (12-15 years old).

Reasons for dropping out of school

• Economic reasons low incomes of the family,
  unemployed parents, degradation of social
  welfare, introduction of commercial practices in
  education
• Social reasons lack of parental control, bad
  influence of social environment, bad conditions
  of life

Reasons for dropping out of school

• Ethno-cultural related to traditions, manners,
  values of Romani people
• Individual lack of motivation for studying,
  negative attitudes toward school, difficulties in
  communication with teachers and other students.

Affected by the consequences

• The State loose the investment in the education
  of students which dropout have to invest
  increasing funds in the education of early
  leavers, to make them competitive for the labour
  market. The main consequence is less educated
  nation.
• Dropped out students because they lose their
  chance for successful social integration and the
  access to labour market
• Successful students- because they have to pay the
  social price for the integration of dropped out
  students

• The Municipality have to lead policy for
  increasing prestige of school institutions as
  providers of modern and high quality education.

• Dialogue between institutions Krivodol
  Municipality, Regional education inspectorate,
  Ministry of education youth and science, Agency
  for social welfare and other institutions
• Equal opportunities for access to high quality
  education
• Ending of the practice of joint classes
• Investing in better school facilities
• Early professional education for students in risk
  of drop-out (I grade of professional
  qualification)

What we do..

• Free meals for students 5-8 grades (municipal
  funds in plus of the national free breakfast
  programme)
• Free transport to school
• Free text books (till 2007/2008 ?.) and clothes
  for the children from socially vulnerable
  families
• All year -including school holidays- activities
  for the children Municipal Youth Delinquency
  Prevention Commission
• Increase the number of Free choice education
  groups and After class preparation groups

• Development of sport at school and building a
  municipal students sports complex.

• High quality education in Krivodol Municipality
  gives for every child s better future
  opportunities.
• Krivodol municipal schools have to be accessible
  for every child without difference of race,
  nationality, ethnicity, gender, social status or
  religion.
• This is possible only if all institutions join
  their efforts and share the responsibilities with
  the citizens!
