• In 2010, a fifteen year old propriety software
  system managing the pension and salaries of civil
  servants became outdated and difficult to
  support.
• As a result multiple payments were made,
  causing millions of dollars, public money,
  monthly losses.

• NIP had to computerize the Birth Death both
  in the center in Gaborone and in the provincial
  district offices countrywide.
• Migration of all manual records into a
  digitized version.
• Enabling a computerized operation while keeping
  the original images for legal reasons.
• Interfacing with an existing ID system in a
  strait forward simple manner.

• NIP linked all branches using the existing
  network system in Botswana.
• A large scale digitization and scanning
  project took place in Gaborone, resulting an
  online archive system that service the districts.
• Based on object oriented innovative concept,
  NIP introduced a cost effective long run low cost
  system. Instead of traditional direct coupling, a
  loose coupling
• object oriented system is utilized. This enables
  transparency between the two different systems
  resulting a cost saving maintenance for the
  Government.

POPULATION REGISTRATION SYSTEM

• IN FAVOUR OF THE CITIZEN
• NIP has implemented and developed Population
  Registration Systems and Databases for the last
  20 years.
• The Population Database is a critical national
  resource
• of information for budgeting and planning
  services (education, health, welfare,
  infrastructures, housing, landscaping,
  statistical purposes (BI) and others).

• The Population Registration System is aimed to
  provide on-line biometric enrollment registration
  and documents issuance services to the citizen.
• The offices are connected via
  telecommunication network to the central computer
  center, which include back-up facilities and

  citizen.
