University of Kansas
  • Has announced an ambitious plan to develop and
carry out a series of steps that will improve our
handling and securing of private information, our
management of university records, and the
preservation of KUs institutional memory for
    todays decision-makers and tomorrows scholars.
  • This endeavor will unfold over a period of years
rather than months. Training, education, outreach
and consulting will be early priorities. A
    comprehensive program of information asset
    management, digital archiving and preservation
will take longer as we build on many programs and
services already in place at KU.
  • The KU Information Management plan includes
  • Identification of University information assets
  • Classification of those information assets to
    determine management requirements
  • Development of resources and tools including
    meaningful policies, procedures, standards, and
    technology tools and
  • Education, training and practical guidelines
