pivotal chapter!!! p. 95 "steady stream
sibilant" - alliteration "storm salt terror" -
alliteration "The girl's hands fluttered.... as
light as butterflies" - simile - shows the weak
condition girl is in Ganesha, Buddha, Kali-Mary
Mercy, Christian God, Fates jumble of
religions "Pleas spilled from her lips, a
desperate trickle" - good sentence "Her fingers
slipped from his cheek like orchid petals
falling" - Simile p. 96 "I'm doing her a favor"
- Pima - does she actually want to kill the girl?
I thought she was a good character

...we lose everything" - Pima - scavenge and
escape more important that human life? "This is
only scavenge if she's not..." - What are the
laws of scavenge in the ocean (Spanish
galleons??) "Starving for salvation" -

alliteration draws attention to her fingers the
prize that makes the decision hard easy at the
same time. "Nailer struggles with his conflicting

regret?? Closing Thoughts Is the gold a
symbol?? Wealth, temptation? Fairy tales
references - What is the purpose of fairy tales
to cultures? Does Nailer see himself as a knight
in shining armor?
