Lesson Introduction

• Read executive order 9066
• Show pictures of people getting ready to board
  buses.
• Introduce Journey to Topaz by Yoshiko Uchida

Instruction

• Students read Jouney to Topaz by Yoshiko Uchida.
• Story is mapped according to characters and story
  events.
• Corresponding actual historical events are
  juxtaposed with group discussions.
• Personal family stories are shared.

Follow Up

• Study and identification of constitutional rights
  violated during WWII.
• Discussion on what can be done to insure this
  never happens again.
