• Are Eukaryotic (have a nucleus)

• Cilia (short hair like structures) or
• Pseudopods (extension of cytoplasm) for movement

• Moves by a Flagella (tail)
• Can make its own food by photosynthesis or can
  eat other organisms
• Primary producer for aquatic ecosystem.
• Found in freshwater ponds, streams

• Moves by Cilia (tiny hairs)
• Uses cilia to guide food into its oral groove
  that acts like a mouth
• Commonly known as the slipper
• They are found in fresh water
• They feed on bacteria and algae

• Move by a pseudopod (false foot)
• Obtains food through phagocytosis (process where
  the cell captures its food)
• Traps food using the pseudopod
• Live in fresh and salt water environments

Structure of Viruses

• Smaller than bacteria
• Head that contains the DNA
• Tail fibers are used to attach the virus to the
  cell
• Tail inserts the DNA into the cell

Are Viruses Considered Alive?

• Viruses are not considered living organisms
• Viruses cannot grow, or respond to changes in the
  environment
• Viruses can only reproduce ONCE they have
  infected host cell
