• When a criminal commits a crime

  others who have committed a similar crime.
• Used to draw conclusion
• A particular crime or criminal
• Based on other crimes and criminals with similar
  elements.

• Tries to avoid generalizations
• Suspects are analyzed in great detail
• Modify findings in which new evidence surfaces.
• Profile is established using the offender's

• Investigators can reconstruct the behavior of the
  offender
• Evidence can be analyzed to classify the criminal

• What triggered the murderer to act some days and
  not others?

• What type of victim(s) did the murderer select?
• What was the method and manner of murder?
• Shooting
• Stabbing
• Strangulation

• Did the crime and body disposal take place all at
  one scene?
• Multiple scenes?

• Is the murderer trying to inject himself into the
  investigation?
