Biography
  • Paul Cezanne was born on January, 19, 1839 in
Aix-en-Provence to a wealthy banker. Paul grew up
in South France for most of his life. His father
always anticipated for his son to follow in his
    footsteps and join his business.

Biography (cont.)
  • Paul Cezanne had a boyhood companion named Emile
Zola. They were best friends. Later, Zola gained
fame as a novelist and man of letters. When
Cezanne went to college, his friendship
disappeared. He went to school studying law.
After a few years of college, he decided he
    wanted to become an artist.

4
  • He moved to France with Emile Zola. While there,
he met Camille Pissaro, who was his very good
friend. Cezanne always admired Roman painter
Eugene Delacroix, Gustave Courbet and Edward
    Manet.
  • When he first started, he painted in dark tones.
Camille Pissaro was a main inspiration.
  • During 1872-1873, Cezanne converted his dark
colors to bright, happy tones. He painted
    farmlands and rural villages.

5
  • Paul Cezanne died on October 22, 1906 in Aix-en
    Provence, France.

Critics
  • Critics were very harsh to Paul Cezanne. A
nameless critic once said, Cezanne is nothing
    but a lamentable failure.
  • Cezanne was very important. He gave people
inspiration to follow their dreams. He struggled
to disappoint his father but then made sure his
    dreams came true.

Why was this important to us?
  • We believe that this is important because Paul
Cezanne continued to create beautiful art,
despite the criticism he received. Cezanne was a
stimulation in the world. He painted pictures of
blissful scenes. It inspired us how he kept going
although no one supported him. He persevered in
    the hardest times.
  • Learning about this artist has taught us that we
should never give up no matter what the
    circumstances.

    Hamburg to study art.
  • After a year there, he moved to Berlin and became
a business manager of the famous S.O 36 hall
venue. While he was managing his industry,
Kippenberger was working on his art.

10
  • Martin Kippenberger painted art that ridiculed
the different types of art. He had combined humor
with the respect of other artists.
  • In 1980, he moved to Paris and worked on his
first novel. After he finished writing, he moved
to Cologne and worked with Albert Oehlen. He
focused on art and created masterpieces.

11
  • In 1986, he held his first museum exhibit of his
work in Hessiehes Landes museum in Darmstadt,

    sophistication of his paintings.
  • There is a flamboyance, a defiant courting risk
and an easy dexterity that is an unpredictable
    output.-Rod Mengham

14
  • Learning about Martin Kippenberger has taught us
to laugh at ourselves and enjoy and value the
world we live in. Martin never held back and we
should always be able to share what is on our
    minds.

15
Why this was important to us.
  • Martin Kippenbergers character is what drew us
to him. He showed that he tried everything
possible to be known better. He traveled to show
his work and he never gave up due to the language
barriers or the struggle to become someone that
people appreciate. He was persistent in his work
and wanted people to laugh and enjoy the humor
that people give. He motivated the world with
amusement that helped others get through
    unfortunate periods.
