• Waxing- add light

• Waning- to go away from light or remove light

  the Sun

• As the moon revolves around the Earth, it looks
  like the amount of light reflected from the Sun
  changes

• The moons revolution around the Earth is
• 1.in a counter clockwise direction (from right to
  left)
• 2. cyclic and predictable
• What does cyclic mean?

What does cyclic mean?
Cyclic means a repeated pattern we see this as
moon phases

• One lunar phase cycle 29 ½ days
• (new moon to new moon)
• 29 ½ days about one month about 4 weeks

So to move from New Moon to First Quarter, it
takes about one week
