Location
  • The country is surrounded by two other countries,
    Honduras and Costa Rica. It is also by the
    Pacific Ocean.
  • The capital of Nicaragua is Managua.
  • The longitude and latitude is 13 north and 85
    west.
  • It is in the northern and western hemispheres.

Place
  • The average climate in Nicaragua is 80F or 20C
    .
  • Here are some of the main crops cotton,
    bananas, sugar cane, tobacco, semi beans, corn,
    and rice.
  • Some of the wildlife are turkey, vultures, black
    vultures, laughing falcons and many more.
  • The population in Nicaragua is 6 million . 15
    is mixed Spanish, 17 is European.
  • Along the Caribbean coast a very small percentage
    of people speak English. The common language
    spoken in Nicaragua is Spanish.
  • Some of the major cities are EstelĂ­, Muy Muy, and
    San Carlos.
  • Some of the landforms, there are volcanoes they
    dont know if they are active or not. So
    scientist are trying to make sure the volcanoes
    are inactive so people can go see the mountains
    without them erupting.
  • Plants/trees- The main flowers there are roses
    and sunflowers. The main tress are oak and pine.

Human/Environment Relationships
  • Natural Resources- gold, silver, zinc, timber,
    fish, copper, tungsten, lead.
  • Jobs are very hard to find in Nicaragua so some
    of people immigrate to other contraries.
  • How the weather affects the people- It gets too
    hot to work sometimes but they work through any
    heat wave.
  • Agriculture/Industries- Nicaragua relies on
    exporting coffee, cotton, sugar, bananas, seafood
    and meat. 44 of the workers are in agriculture.

History
  • 1502 Christopher Columbus became the first
    European to come to the coast of Central America.
  • 1522- the first Spanish explorers, led by Gil
    Gonzalez de Avila, arrive and establish colonies
    in Nicaragua
  • 1740- the British claim Nicaraguas mosquito
    coast of the Caribbean sea.
  • 1821- Nicaragua declares its independence from
    Spain and became part of Mexico's Iturbide.
  • 1855- American, William Walker was involved in
    the civil wars and seizes control of Nicaragua
    declares himself president, and legalizes
    slavery.
  • 1857- Walker is driven out of Central America,
    the civil war ends, and Nicaragua forms a new
    government.
  • 1998-Hurricane Mitch hits Nicaragua, killing
    thousands and leaving thousands more homeless
    countries from around the world send aid and
    forgive Nicaragua's dept.

Movement
  • Migration many people move out of the country to
    go where there are the supplies like water that
    they didnt have so that could they live. There
    are also many civil wars that drive people out.
  • Transportation- Most roads are unpaved many areas
    cant be reached by cars. Oxcarts are the only
    way to get around there.
  • Communication-postal, telegraph and telephone
    service are not in rural areas.
  • Traditions- they like to be around other people.
  • Customs- Like to visit others. Offering a cool
    drink is always done. It is bad not to accept it.

  • Government-there are four branches of government
    the cabinet, legislative, judicial, and
    electoral.
  • The voting age is 16.
  • religious groups- catholic is the main religion.
  • Ethnic groups- Native American and Mexican.
  • There are states.
  • States have different cultures.

Extra
  • Sports baseball, soccer, boxing, softball,
    basketball, and volleyball.
  • Cuisine (food)- gallopinto, nacatamales, vigoron,
    bahono are foods. One drink is regresses.
  • Music- They listen to soft kind and welcoming
    music.
  • Nicaragua is the largest country in Central
    America
  • Family life- parents, children, aunts, uncles,
    and cousins usually live together .
  • The oldest in the family is usually the head of
    the house.
  • A number of men died or were sent to war. Many
    woman became head of the house.
  • Clothing- the men wear cotton t-shirts, jeans,
    and Flip-flops.
  • Women wear dresses or skirts and lightweight
    dress shirts. And flip-flops.
