of America 2008-2009 Who Are
We?
3
Lets explore just what it is. . .
FCCLA has catchy sayings that encourage all who
are enrolled in FCS classes to take advantage
of all FCCLA has
to offer them.
4
Lets start by looking at some basics about FCCLA.
  • Since 1945, FCCLA
  • members have been making a
  • difference in their families,
careers and communities by addressing important
personal, work and societal issues through family
    and consumer sciences.

5
  • Just what do the letters
  • FCCLA stand for?

F Family C Career C Community L Leaders A
America
6
Today over 220,000 members in nearly
7,000 chapters are active in a network of
associations in 50 states as well as in the
District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands and
Puerto Rico.
Did You Know? FCCLA has involved more than ten
million youth since its founding in 1945.
7
  • FCCLA projects focus on a
  • variety of youth concerns,
  • including teen pregnancy,
  • parenting, family
  • relationships, teen violence
  • substance abuse, peer pressure,
  • environment, nutrition
  • and fitness, and career
  • exploration.

8

  • in the home and workplace.

Planning, goal setting, problem solving,
decision making, interpersonal communication

13
The logo contains a swooping arrow arch to
signify we are an active organization that moves
toward new arenas.

14
Part of the Logo is a Tagline that reads
The Ultimate Leadership Experience
Tagline
15
Dont confuse the Tagline which never changes
with the THEME which changes every year. Ohios
theme this year is FCCLA Hear the Rhythm
of Opportunities Feel the Beat
of Leadership.
16
  • To show more about who we are and why we are
members of FCCLA, lets look at our Opening

19
  • Finally, all the members

FCCLA National Outreach Project
FCCLA is proud continue their partnership with
Feed The Children (FTC) for the 2008-2009
National Outreach Project.  If every FCCLA member
participates, as many as 25,000 families could
receive food for as little as 2 per student! In
the U.S. alone, 13 million children live in
povertythats 18 percent of the population!  A
single truck sponsorship provides approximately
35,000 to 50,000 worth of food and other
essentials (actual weight and value of product
varies by shipment) to families in need.
Truck Sponsorship is one of Feed The Children's
most rewarding community outreach programs. Each
sponsored truck delivers approximately 25,000
pounds of food and other essentialsenough to
supplement meals for 400 hungry families of four
for approximately one week!

101
Hmmm. . . Whats this FCCLA Planning Process
thats used for many projects?
102
The FCCLA Planning Process is a very organized
way to tackle many situations. Heres how it
works Identify Concerns
brainstorm concerns      evaluate listed
concerns    narrow to one workable idea or
concern
103
Set a Goal
  • get a clear mental
  • picture of what you want
  • to accomplish
  • write it down
  • evaluate it

Form a Plan
plan how to achieve goal decide who, what,
where, when, why and how
104
Act
  • carry out project
  • decide who, what,
  • where, when, why and
  • how
  •

Follow Up
evaluate project thank people involved
recognize participants
105
I think this Planning Process is a good
thing. What do you think?
106
OK, so weve seen a lot of stuff about FCCLA!
Whats next?
107
