- All minors under the age of 18 must have working
papers, the employer holds the certificate until
the employees employment is terminated.
Chautauqua Works will return the working papers
at the end of the summer by mail. If termination
occurs before the end of the summer, the employee
can make arrangements with their Retention
Specialist to pick up their working papers. - If anyone has a birthday while they are employed,
they will need to obtain new working papers and
submit them to Chautauqua Works before reporting
to work after their birthday.
3Labor Law
- Working paper applications are given at the
school. - If between the ages of 16 and 18 there are
certain hours you can work depending on whether
school is in session or not in session. (refer to
booklet) - Everyone must take and document a half hour break
if working over 6 hours in a day. - Everyone must be paid at least the minimum wage.
4Payroll Options
- Paychecks will be mailed to your home address
bi-weekly the following Friday after turning in
your timesheet (because they are mailed on
Friday, you may not receive them for up to five
days depending on the postal service). If you do
not receive your paycheck please contact your
Retention Specialist. - If you have a bank account, paychecks can be
directly deposited in your bank account on Friday
mornings and can be accessed the same day (which
saves you from waiting for your paycheck to come
in the mail).
5Direct Deposit
- To partake in Direct Deposit, you will need to
complete a direct deposit form, which you can get
from your Retention Specialist and a deposit
ticket from your bank with your bank account
number on it ,OR a VOIDED check with your bank
account number on it.
6Address Changes
- Paychecks are mailed directly to your house,
therefore it is necessary that if you have an
address change, you notify your Retention
Specialist right away. - Also notify Chautauqua Works of any address
changes after the program ends because we mail
W-2s out in January and we want to ensure that
everyone receives those in a timely manner.
