Definition Of Mononucleosis

• Mononucleosis is nick-named Mono, or The
  Kissing Disease, and another name for this
  disease is glandular fever.
• It is also communicable disease.
• Mono is spread through saliva (kissing, sharing
  food, drinks, eating utensils, etc.).
• It is a disease that comes from a viral infection
  called the Epstein-Barr Virus.

• Mononucleosis mostly occurs during adolescence or
  young adulthood.
• It affects the neck to the head, skin, liver,
  heart, and lungs.
• The symptoms include fatigue, weakness, sore
  throat, fever, swollen glands, nausea, enlarged
  spleen, headache, skin rash, loss of appetite,
  night sweats, abdominal pain, chills, and slight
  weight loss.

• Untreated, Mononucleosis can result in
  infections in the brain, heart, and spinal cord,
  breathing problems, a ruptured spleen, very low
  blood counts, irregular hearts rhythms, and
  jaundice.
• Mono can cause life-threatening internal breathing

• To prevent the spread of mononucleosis, avoid
  kissing others, sharing food, drinks, and eating
  utensils, sports, or donating blood while
  infected and for a few weeks after you are
  feeling better
• Mono is diagnosed by physical examinations,
  monospot, a white blood cell count, blood
  tests, medical history, and a heterophil test.

• Mononucleosis is cured with bed rest and fluids.
  There is no real cure. Since mono is a virus,
  antibiotics cant cure mono, but antibiotics can
  be used after the disease has passed and leaves a
  result of strep throat.
• Medicines life asprin, tylenol, etc. can be used
  to help the symptoms.

• The virus that causes mono stays in your body for
  the rest of your life after the first time you
  get it.
• Mononucleosis lives in your mouth and throat for
  years after the initial infection.
• Everyone that gets mono usually recovers
  completely, but some have a result of strep
  throat.
