2The Limestone Coast region spans from the costal
town of Port MacDonnell in the South to Tailem
Bend in the North, following the Victoria border
on the East side and the coastline on the West.
3South Australia's South East region was once
covered by the waters of the Southern Ocean. Over
millions of years tonne's of marine sediments
were deposited, the sea receded and the Limestone
Coast Region was formed.
4Transportation
The Limestone Coast is easily accessible, and is
widely known as a popular self-drive destination.
Visitors can follow a number of designated routes
catering for a range of interests, including The
Limestone Coast Wine Trail, The Volcanic
Discovery Trail, The Mary MacKillop Tourist
Drive, and The Shipwreck Trail.
5When thinking of the Limestone Coast Region many
will think of the Coonawarra Wine region, the
coastal town of Robe, the World Heritage Listed
Naracoorte Caves and the Blue Lake. But a region
is always much more than its major tourist

obvious are those little known places which add
colour, deeper understanding and appreciation.

products can be ecperienced first hand by

often reserved for city hotels.

restaurants are not to be missed.
